It is a beautiful member of the milkweed family and is known by many common names, including Butterfly Weed, orange milkweed, and orange root. It is called Butterfly weed because Monarch Butterflies, as well as hummingbirds, are attracted to it due to its bright orange flowers and high nectar levels. It’s a wonderful plant to add to domestic gardens, since it attracts birds and butterflies, is perennial, and features a beautiful splash of attractive bright orange flowers .
