While I'm sure it wouldn't impress a pro, this is an excellent tool for amateur work around the house. The unit takes about 20 seconds to stabilize and reads temperature incorrectly during the 20 second power-up period. All in all, it is a very simple and well-designed tool that does what it purports to do, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. Temperature accuracy is "approximate". Bought this FLIR TG54 Spot Infrared Thermometer to replace my broken Fluke 62 Mini and was really surprised by how much more powerful in terms of performance the FLIR TG54 is when compared to the Fluke 62 Mini. For instance, the more reflective surface of polished copper would require an emissivity of 0.04 while the surface of oxidized copper would require an emissivity of 0.87. A simple, no-frills, but quite useful thermal imager for home use. The only thing I had to figure out was how to switch between F/C (it turns out there was a switch in the battery compartment). Infrared thermometers use an infrared beam of light to measure surface temperatures of objects. Please make sure that you are posting in the form of a question.
The further the user backs up from 24” or 30” depending on the model he/she chooses, the larger the “circle of measurement” becomes. Extremely basic, but it works! We did ask someone to try to fix it but it didn't work. I was looking for a thermal imager to locate drafts and other problems in my condo. All I needed was an imager to show me warm/cold spots so I can seal leaks in vents, windows and patch up insulation and this looks like it will do the trick nicely. We got it for finding drafts and heat leaks (like most people) and it's been very informative. Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2019.
We are sorry the product did not meet your expectations. This is the absolute most basic possible thermal imager, but it's also at a great price point, and it works. The Flir TG54 and TG56 IR Thermometers are great for a vast amount of applications such as diagnosing AC units, ventilation, bearings, motors, transformers, bad electrical connections, fuses, and more.

It seemed very flimsy and prone to breakage. Can also "see" leaks around your doors and windows.
